Position: Automotive Mechanic

Salary: $13.90 Hr.

Grade 8 NE

Summary: Under direct supervision of the Garage Supervisor performs automotive maintenance and repair of Sheriff's Department marked and unmarked units to include mechanical, electrical, electronic, air conditioning, scheduled and non-scheduled work, road-calls and drive-in/drive-out repairs.

Duties: Examines unit and discusses with the garage supervisor the nature and extent of damage or malfunction. Plans work procedure. Removes unit such as engine, transmission, or differential. Disassembles unit and inspects parts for wear. Repairs or replaces parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings. Logs in and receives new parts shipments, Signs out parts needed for daily repair work. Picks up parts and purchase orders as needed. Submits necessary paperwork for requisitioning needed parts and equipment through garage supervisor. Reports cases of abuse or mistreatment of county vehicles to the supervisor.

Requirements:

- High School Diploma/Equiv. Required.

- Must have knowledge of procedures and equipment use for all levels of vehicle maintenance, i.e. the disassembly and assembly of brakes systems, wheel balancing, engine tune-up, etc.

- Must have a background in automobile electrical system and ability to troubleshoot computer components

and fuel injection system.

- Must be able to utilize all tools and equipment necessary in the performance of all levels of automotive maintenance.

- Must be on call and be flexible to responding to occasional night and weekend work.

- Must be able to lift heavy weight automotive parts, climb ladder, etc.

- Must have own tools.

MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

Summary: Under direct supervision of the Maintenance Foreman performs building maintenance including carpentry, plumbing (assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water and drainage systems), air conditioning, electrical and other related fields. Develops and tests machinery and equipment under direction of engineering.

Duties: Implements engineering changes, executes special projects, maintains and repairs mechanical, plumbing, electrical, heating ventilation and air conditioning, and locking systems, maintains kitchen and bakery equipment, welds and repairs steel equipment, assists in procuring necessary parts and materials, maintains equipment logs, escorts contractors, reads drawings, blue prints, schematics, technical manuals, and technical data sheets, maintain tools, keys, chemicals, and equipment inventory. Clean the sewage manhole and lift station.

Requirements:

- High School Diploma/GED plus formal schooling in the trades.

(Degree persons preferred)

- Must have a current Texas Driver's License.

- Licensed or certified with experience in one or more of the following fields: plumbing, welding, electronics, electricity, HVAC & refrigeration, etc.

- No Criminal history.

- On-call "status".

Summary: Under regular supervision of the Food Service Shift Leader performs food service specialist duties in accordance with the mission, goals, and objectives of the employing agency and in compliance with governing federal, state and local directives.

Duties: Conforms with the food service production worksheets as prescribed by the food service director. Maintains accurate records of hazardous chemicals, utensils, keys and facility inspections. Prepares a variety of hot/cold food products. Prepares a variety of medically prescribed diets. Monitors inmates in the preparation, cooking and serving of food. Monitors and records cooking and holding temperatures for hot/cold food items. Supervises inmates in the process of cleaning, cutting, peeling and storing of fresh fruits and vegetables. Inspects, operates and performs preventive/minor maintenance on all food service equipment. Submits maintenance request forms for any major maintenance or repairs needed in the facility. Maintains kitchen sanitation in accordance with federal, state, and local rules and regulations. Routinely conducts security inspections and reports any security breeches and unsound practices.

Requirements:

- High School Diploma/Equiv. required.

- Formal training in food service preferred.

- Be able to work shift hours.

- Must work standing at least 7.5 out of an 8 hour shift.

- Lifts and handles objects weighing up to 50 lbs. or more.
