WHAT: “Operation Due Diligence”
WHERE: El Paso County, Texas.
WHEN: Amnesty period November 12 through November 16, 2007.
WHY: Execute outstanding warrants.
FYI: Preliminary data: $108,922.41 collected. This number does not reflect all of the Justices of the Peace. Final numbers will be reported to the County Auditor sometime next week. As a result the number of warrants cleared has not been tabulated as of this time.
Background:
November 17, 2007 the Sheriff’s office in conjunction with County Constables conducted a Warrant Arrest Operation: Fifteen teams of County Constables participated in the operation and worked traffic warrants. Six teams of personnel from the Sheriff’s Office as well as three officers from the County Tax Office worked on clearing felony warrants.

Warrants executed: 100
Total Felony Arrest’: 37
Total Traffic Arrests’: 51
Total arrested: 88
“We saw people daily taking advantage of the amnesty and the court fee waiver. It is unfortunate we have to go to this extreme to get people to do the right thing. It helps when the public puts pressure on family, friends and co-workers to get off the list of shame,” said Assistant Chief Ralph Mitchell, Law Enforcement Bureau, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
