Background:

On 01-12-08 at 2:41 p.m. Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to the area of Horizon & I-10 in reference to an escape in progress. Command Staff from the Multi-Use Facility were reporting to SO Dispatch Operators advising of an inmate from that facility escaping in a green Ford Escort with the help of a second subject (brother of escapee).

Incoming reports advised subjects had just assaulted officers at the MUF during visitation and fled outside to the get away vehicle and drove away. Officers attempted to block exit but were unsuccessful.

After an exhaustive search of the area, Deputies located the suspect vehicle on I-10 west exiting the Lee Trevino exit. Patrol units attempted to conduct traffic stop on Escort but the driver would not stop. Sheriff's Office Patrol units initiated a vehicle pursuit travelling northbound on Lee Trevino. The suspect vehicle pulled into & stopped at the Fairview Apt complex located at the 1700 block of Lee Trevino. Both subjects exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Pursuing Deputies were able to take driver (escapee's brother) into custody after a brief foot chase and gave description of second subject. After a brief search of the area by several SO Patrol units & a Constable unit, the escapee was spotted running on foot jumping a fence to a local restaurant. The subject was apprehended after he jumped the fence again back into the apartment complex.

The subjects were arrested and charged with multiple offenses.
