INFORMATION: 

On Tuesday evening, 06-24-08 at 7:22 PM Sheriff Deputies were patrolling the area of Fabens, TX when they spotted a black  2004 GMC Yukon driving recklessly. Deputies tried to stop the reckless driver after observing the black Yukon nearly colliding with other motorists. Deputies suspected the driver might be highly intoxicated. The driver refused to stop and attempted to elude authorities. Sheriff's Deputies pursued the black Yukon for several miles until they lost visual of the pick-up truck in a desert area near Horizon. After searching surrounding areas, Deputies located the black GMC Yukon which was stuck in the desert sand. Several moments later, concerned citizens called to report a “suspicious subject” walking around the neighborhood. The subject fit the description of the driver, and was apprehended by Deputies who were also able to positively identify the subject (place him behind the wheel) as the driver of the GMC Yukon involved in the pursuit.

No injuries were reported as a result of the pursuit.

The driver was arrested and charged with Evading Arrest Detention w/ vehicle & Driving While Intoxicated. He was identified as Anthony Ordaz (27) of the 900 block of Warwick.

He remains at the El Paso County Detention Facility.
