Promotion Ceremony
On Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at 11:00 am- The El Paso County Sheriff's Office hosted a Promotion Ceremony at Sheriff's Office Head Quarters 3850 Justice Dr. El Paso, TX.
Individuals Promoted included:
Promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief-Commander Claudio Morales
Newly Promoted Assistant Chief Claudio Morales began his career as a Dispatcher with the Sheriff's Office in August 1, 1980. Born & raised in El Paso, TX, he is a graduate of Fabens High School Class class of 1977. Assistant Chief Claudio Morales holds a Bachelors Degree from the University of Texas at El Paso in Business Administration & a Master's of Arts Degree in Organizational management from the University of Phoenix. 
In his 28 years with the Sheriff's Office, Assistant Chief Morales has accumulated a tremendous amount of awards & letters of appreciation from different organizations for his contribution to the community.
His education, training, leadership skills & work experience has qualified him for different assignments within the Sheriff's Office to include Crime Prevention Sergeant, Jail Annex Lieutenant, & Special Operations Commander.
Promoted to the rank of Deputy Sergeant- Deputy Hector Montes
Sergeant Hector Montes began his career with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office as a Detention Officer in September 16, 1996 & was appointed Deputy Sheriff in February 27, 1998. He is graduate of El Paso High School , class of 1985.
In his 12 years with the Sheriff's Office, Sergeant Montes has accumulated many Sheriff's Citation Certificates as well as many letters of appreciation for exemplary performance of duty within the Community, demonstrating the commitment, dedication & professionalism in the Community Service Section.

Promoted to the rank of Detention Lieutenant- Sergeant Pedro Frias
Lieutenant Pedro Frias began his career with the Sheriff’s Office on October 3, 1984. He was promoted to Floor Control Officer in June 87’ & Detention Sergeant in June 1995. Lieutenant Frias has received several commendations & letters of recognitions during his career with the Sheriff’s Office including his 20 year letter of recognition in October 2004.
Promoted to the rank of Detention Sergeant- Corporal Robert Ramirez
Sergeant Robert Ramirez began his career with the Sheriff’s Office on June 13, 1994. He was promoted to Floor Control Officer in July 13, 1997. Sergeant Ramirez has received several commendations & letters of appreciation during his career with the Sheriff’s Office.
END OF ANNOUNCEMENT
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office in March of 2001 was the first Sheriff’s Office in the State of Texas to be Internationally Accredited from CALEA and is now the recipient of the First CALEA Tri-Arc award in Texas (4th in the Nation) to have accreditations in: Law Enforcement, Communications, Training Academy.
