Information:
San Elizario, TX - Thursday night 08-14-2008 at approximately 8:11 PM, a Sheriff's Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a gray Ford Aerostar (defective head light) at about the 100 block of Camino De La Rosa, El Paso County Texas. The Deputy made contact with the male driver of the vehicle and advised him the reason for the stop. The Deputy asked the male driver for his driver's license & proof of insurance. The driver became nervous & was evasive of questions asked of him. The driver went on to say he had left his wallet at home. The Deputy walked back to his patrol car & requested wanted persons check on the driver. Dispatch Operators advised the male driver was a Fugitive wanted on multiple outstanding criminal warrants; 1.) Possession of a Controlled Substance with the $100,000 bond 2.) Driving while Intoxicated with a $50,000 Bond 3.) Driving while License Invalid with a $135 bond. As the Deputy exited his patrol unit, the driver exited the van & began running north towards Texas 20 in a desperate attempt to get away. The Deputy immediately relayed the information over the radio to other responding units which initiated an area search for the driver.
After an intense 2 1/2 hours search, Deputies received information on the possible whereabouts of driver. Sheriff's Officials along with the assistance of U.S. Border Patrol Agents proceeded to a residence located at residence 12200 block of Cinnabar (about five blocks from the traffic stop location). As Authorities arrived, the wanted fugitive / driver exited the home through the front door and surrendered to officials. He was taken into custody without incident. He was identified as Francisco Navarrette (33) of the 7900 block of Esther Rd. El Paso, TX.

- (warrant) Possession of Controlled Substance (cocaine)-$100,000 Bond
- (warrant) Driving While Intoxicated- $50,000 Bond
- (warrant) Driving While License Invalid- $135 Bond
- + an additional charge of Evading Arrest Detention- $1,000 Bond
