INCIDENT # 1: STABBING LEAVES 1 INJURED / ANOTHER ARRESTED

 HORIZON CITY, TX- Late Friday night 08-29-2008 at 9:27 PM, Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a residence at the 1600 block of Exeter, Horizon City, TX in reference to a fight resulting in a stabbing. Dispatch Operators advised responding Deputies that one of the subjects involved would be sitting inside a brown pick up truck directly in front of the residence.  As Deputies arrived, they located an individual exactly where they were advised. Deputies made contact with the subject and instructed him to exit the truck with his hands in the air. Deputies quickly took the subject into custody. He was identified as Enrique Sanchez (49) of  the 1600 block of Exeter, Horizon City, TX 79928. Deputies made entry into the residence and found a male subject who was conscious holding a towel to the right side of his abdomen. The subject told Deputies he and Sanchez got into an argument which led to a fight and resulted with Sanchez stabbing him with a knife. Sanchez was charged and arrested for Aggravated Assault w/ Deadly Weapon. He was booked and remains at the El Paso County Detention Facility under a $2,500 BOND.      

The Victim was identified as Hector Hulen (50) of the same 1600 block of Exeter, Horizon City, TX.

 INCIDENT # 2: BEER RUN SUSPECT CAUGHT / ARRESTED BY SHERIFF'S DEPUTIES

EP SHERIFFF patch colorEL PASO COUNTY, TX- Early Saturday morning 08-30-08 at approximately 1:30 AM, Sheriff's Deputies were working an off duty uniformed security detail at the Petro Shopping Centers located at 1295 Horizon Blvd, El Paso County TX. Deputies were walking in the parking lot when they observed a male subject exit the Mobile Mart Convenience Store holding a case of beer. Deputies being aware it was past midnight (alcoholic beverage sales stop a 12 A M) recognized a beer run had just occurred. Deputies quickly reacted and yelled out at the subject while approaching the subject. When the subject noticed it was Sheriff's Deputies calling out at him, he ran towards a vehicle that was parked at the gas pumps. Deputies ran towards the car attempting to catch the subject before he could reach the vehicle. The subject managed to get into the vehicle as a Deputy reached the drivers side of the car. The Deputy managed to open the car door and attempted to prevent the subject from fleeing. The subject managed to turn the vehicle on and attempted to drive off as the Deputy was holding on to the steering wheel. The vehicle sped off as the Deputy was partially out of the vehicle & still hanging on.  The vehicle traveled about 100 feet until it hit a curb & came to a stop. The subject was taken into custody. He was identified as Mario Alberto Hernandez (18) of the 12700 block of Thackery, El Paso County, TX. Hernandez was charged and arrested for Aggravated Robbery. He was booked and remains at the El Paso County Detention Facility under a $25,000 Bond.

The Sheriff's Deputy suffered minor injuries in the incident.

 INCIDENT # 3: SUSPECT ARRESTED AFTER LEADING SHERIFF DEPUTIES ON A HIGH SPEED CHASE

EL PASO COUNTY, TX- Early Saturday morning 08-30-08 at 1:45 AM, a Sheriff's Deputy was patrolling an area near the 13900 block of Nayarit in El Paso County TX, 79938. The Deputy observed  several vehicles parked at the end of the paved roadway by old abandoned houses. This area is a known hang out for narcotics usage and underage drinkers. The Deputy shined his spotlight at the vehicles in an attempt to advise them to leave the area. Several individuals ran to their vehicles and sped off with some almost colliding with the patrol unit.  The Sheriff's Deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Red Mitsubishi Eclipse, but the driver refused to pull over. The driver of the Eclipse attempted to evade the Sheriff's unit driving recklessly at high speeds through several stop intersections. The driver led Deputies on a chase through several areas of El Paso County, Horizon City until the driver finally pulled over near Joe Battle & I-10 inside the city limits. He was taken into custody shortly after. The driver was identified as Michael Anthony Anguiano (17) of the 13500 block of Inspiration Ct. El Paso, TX 79928. He was charged and arrested for Evading Arrest or Detention w/ Vehicle. He was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility under a $1,250 Bond. He is currently out on Bond.
