WHAT: SEVERAL ARRESTED IN SEPARATE WEEKEND INCIDENTS
WHEN: SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18 - SUNDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2008

WHERE: EL PASO COUNTY, TX

 WHY: ALL CASES UNDER INVESTIGATION

INCIDENT #1:

Deputy-2

ANTHONY, TX- Early Saturday morning 10-18-2008 at approximately 1:50 AM, Sheriff's Deputies were patrolling the area of the 100  block of N. Main in Anthony, TX. Deputies observed several individuals fighting in a nearby parking lot. One of the subjects was holding the baseball bat as a weapon & wanting to go at a group of people. Deputies immediately subdued & placed the subject into custody. While talking to other individuals involved, another subject suddenly ran off in a desperate attempt to elude capture. After a brief chase, he was quickly apprehended & taken into custody by Sheriff Deputies just before the New Mexico State Line. Several subjects were arrested.

The subjects were identified as Robert Holguin (24) of Los Cocos Berino, NM. He was arrested & charged with UNLAWFUL CARRYING OF A WEAPON / CLUB and Miguel Angel De Leon (31) of Acosta St. in Anthony, NM. He was arrested & charged with EVADING ARREST or DETENTION

A third subject involved in the fight was also arrested for outstanding warrants. He was identified as Alfredo Barron (25) of the 1000 block of Grand St. Anthony, NM. 

All 3 were booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility & are all currently out on bond.

WARRANTS:

  1. POSSESSION OF OPEN CONTAINER - $763 FINE
  2. FAILURE TO APPEAR - $630 FINE

INCIDENT #2:

 CANUTILLO, TX- Sunday night 10-19-08 at approximately 7:30 PM, Deputies were patrolling in the area of the 7200 Blk. of Doniphan in Canutillo, TX. Deputies observed two sport bike motorcycles traveling south on Doniphan Rd. at a high rate of speed. Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on both sport bike motorcycles. Both motorcycle drivers refused to stop accelerating at high speeds and disregarding several traffic control devices disregarding the safety of  persons or property. Deputies observed several vehicles swerve to avoid striking the two motorcycles. Deputies pursued the motorcycles for several miles. The reckless motorcycle drivers approached a red light at S. Desert and Talbot and continued across the intersection with out slowing down for their safety or the safety of other drivers. One of the motorcycles came to a stop at the 6800 Blk. of N. Desert and the driver stepped off his blue /white 2009 Suzuki motorcycle with his hands in the air. The driver was immediately taken into custody without further incident. 

The driver was identified as RENE A. PINON-VASQUEZ (21) of the 1100 block of Larry Canutillo, TX. He was arrested & charged with EVADING ARREST / DETENTION w/ MOTOR VEHICLE & RECKLESS DRIVING. He was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility & is currently out on bond.

Crime Stopper logo The other motorcycle involved eluded capture & sped away at high speeds. The motorcycle was described as a black Suzuki motorcycle driven by a male subject (wearing all black).
