SHERIFF'S OFFICE BASIC PEACE OFFICER CLASS BPO 08-1 ACHIEVES 100% PASSING RATE ON STATE EXAM
Region VIII Training Academy
On 10-23-08, the Sheriff's Office Basic Peace Officer Class 08-1 took their TCLEOSE State Exam. All members of Class 08-1 passed on the first attempt.
Class 08-1 will graduate in December 2008.
The State of Texas requires only 618 hours of training for the Basic Peace Officer class. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office requires more than 1,000 hours of training.
All graduates from the Basic Peace Officer Course originally served a minimum of one year as a Detention Officer before being eligible to compete for a position at the academy.
The class name is "LEGACY"
The class motto is "RESPECT, HONOR, PRIDE"

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office in March of 2001 was the first Sheriff’s Office in the State of Texas to be Internationally Accredited from CALEA and is now the recipient of the First CALEA Tri-Arc award in Texas (4th in the Nation) to have accreditations in: Law Enforcement, Communications, Training Academy.
