COMBINED LAW ENFORCEMENT HALLOWEEN HOLIDAY CAMPAIGN 2008

EL PASO, TEXAS- Monday morning 10-27-08 at 9:00 AM, a Multi-Agency Campaign will be launched introducing a pre-Halloween city/county wide effort to ensure our children are safe from sexual predators. Working collectively, all agencies will conduct a variety of home visits, random spot checks and surveillance to ensure innocent children are not lured into homes by individuals who cannot have any direct contact with children.

Agencies participating include; the El Paso County Sheriff's Office / The El Paso Police Department / the United States Marshals Service / the West Texas Community Supervision and Corrections (Probation), Texas Parole, and Federal Probation Department.

From January to March, 2008 the first phase of our collective law enforcement efforts was launched with "Operation Guardian West" which resulted in over 80 arrests for violations of Texas and Federal law regarding sex offender registration.

· Since that time, commercials have aired on some media outlets (radio/tv) that featured John Walsh of America’s Most Wanted encouraging sex offenders to register and/or maintain their registration.

· This collection of agencies will continue to work together at all levels from this point forward to provide a constant combined focus on sex offender case management, registration, compliance, and investigations which will enhance the PD/SO violent crime reduction strategies and continue to make this one of the safest communities in America.
