SHERIFF'S OFFICE PUBLIC AFFAIRS HOSTS TRAINING SEMINAR FOR PUBLIC INFORMAION OFFICERS (PIO'S)


EL PASO, TEXAS- On Monday December 1, 2008, a Training Seminar for Public Information Officers commenced at the Sheriff's Office Region VIII Training Academy. This seminar is a 4 -Day training course called Chris Ryan’s PIO BOOT CAMP™ -A Hard-Hitting, No-Nonsense Media Relations Seminar for Police, Fire & First Responders ™. The Instructor is "Media Relations Guru" Chris Ryan himself- who specializes in Intensive Media Relations Training & High caliber instruction. The course offers exercises, videos, on-camera practicals, intense in depth classroom discussions which take attendees through the treacherous territory of news media communications. Sheriff's Office Public Affairs Deputies Jesse Tovar & Eddie Placencia attended this course in Grand Prairie, Texas back in the spring of 2007.

Several local & regional PIO's are currently attending this seminar which concludes Thursday, December 4, 2008. PIO's ranging from Police, Fire, Constables, Probation Dept., Dept. of Transportation & School Districts area among the attendees. Some have come from as far as Oregon, Louisiana, Las Vegas, NV & San Antonio, TX. If all attendees successfully complete the training seminar, they will receive their "Master PIO Certification."
