 WHY: FATAL ACCIDENT

CANUTILLO, TEXAS- Early Sunday morning 02-15-09 at about 1:53AM, Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to 7600 Bosque / N. Campos Rd, Canutillo, TX in reference to a Motor Vehicle Accident with injuries. Deputies arrived moments later to find a Blue 1973 2-door Volkswagen car with extensive front end damage. Deputies found a 22 year-old female driver (sole occupant) inside the vehicle with no signs of life. Special Traffic Investigator's (STI’s) were summoned to the scene. 

Further investigation revealed the Volkswagen was traveling northbound on Bosque when suddenly for an unknown reason, the vehicle veered off the roadway & struck a Utility Pole. The 22 year-old female driver from the Westside of El Paso, TX died at the scene.

Bosque Rd. was closed for several hours as STI’s worked the scene.

EP SHERIFFF patch color small2 UPDATE 02-16-09: Further Investigation by Sheriff’s Office STI’s revealed the 22 year-old Victim was not wearing a seatbelt prior to the impact with the Utility Pole. The Victim was identified as Christina Hinojosa (22) of the 1000 block Esplanada Cir. El Paso, TX. An Autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday 02/17.
