CANUTILLO, TEXAS- Monday night 02-16-09 at about 7:10 PM, a Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a 2007 Nissan Tida at the 6800 block of Doniphan in El Paso Texas. The reason for the stop was a moving traffic violation. Deputies made contact with the driver and noticed him to be very nervous & evasive of questions asked of him. Consent to search the vehicle was sought and obtained. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 686 lbs of marijuana (586 bundles). The driver was taken into custody and arrested for POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA o/50 lbs. u/ 2,000 lbs. The driver was identified as VICTOR HERNANDEZ (36) of the 3100 block of Calle Mitla Juarez, Mexico. Subject HERNANDEZ was booked and remains at El Paso County Detention Facility under a $175,000 bond.
