WHY: ARREST MADE
WESTWAY, TX- Thursday night 03-26-09 at about 8:55 PM, Deputies were were dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of Lakewood Westway, TX in reference to an Aggravated Robbery that just occurred. Deputies arrived moments later and met with the 80 year-old reporter / Victim who told authorities forced entry was made into his home and he was the victim of a Robbery.
According to investigator’s at about 8:40 PM, the Victim answered the front door and was met by a male suspect. As the Victim opened the door to speak with him, he forced his way into the his home and demanded money. The male suspect forced the Victim throwing him onto his living-room bed. The male suspect then proceeded search the elderly Victims pockets looking for money and /or his wallet. As they both struggled, the elderly Victim managed to get up and walk to the kitchen and grab a metal pipe. The Victim struck the male suspect on the left side of his head with the pipe causing injury. The Victim demanded that he leave his home.
The suspect left & sped off in a Red Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck. Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Operators put out a spot-broadcast describing the suspect vehicle to all responding Deputies & nearby Law Enforcement agencies.
A short time later, Deputies spotted the pick-up truck matching the description given at the the Petro-2 Truck Stop, 601 Westway Blvd Westway, TX. Deputies found a male subject sitting on the curb with a large laceration to his head. The male subject was positively identified the assailant. Deputies immediately placed the suspect under arrest for BURGLARY OF HABITATION. The suspect was identified as JESUS RIBERA (47) of the 1100 block of Meadow Westway, TX. He was paper booked while at the hospital & remains in the custody of the Sheriff’s Office with a Detention Officer assigned to his location.
