EVENT:  15 year-old  Juvenile arrested for several Burglaries over the weekend

RESULT:  BURGLARIES – TEEN ARRESTED

STRIKE TEAMCANUTILLO, TX- Saturday morning 04-18-09 at 7:00 AM, Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Sierras Quick Stop located at 7088 Doniphan, reference to a Burglary of Business. Deputies arrived and met with an employee who told authorities he arrived to work and noticed that the front window to the business was shattered out. 

While Deputies conducted a walk through of the business, several shoe impression were located near a beer cooler & several other areas within the store. Several alcoholic beverages were taken (unknown exactly how much). While canvassing the area for clues, Deputies found the front door of the River Trail Bicycle Shop located at 7061 Doniphan also shattered out. Deputies looked inside & noticed that it appeared as if several items had also been taken. The owner was located a short time later confirming the Deputies findings. CID Crimes Against Property Detectives were summoned to the scene.

Deputies followed a trail of beer cans near area of the burglarized businesses which lead through several streets through the Canutillo neighborhood. Deputies followed several cans of beer and other items to the 6900 block of Second St. Deputies also located several shoe impressions matching those recovered from Sierras Quick Stop.

While piecing together what they had, Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to an Intoxicated Subject disturbing call at a residence in the same 6900 block Second St. Canutillo, TX where Deputies had followed the trail to. Upon arrival, Deputies were directed to a bedroom where a 15 year-old Juvenile was located. He was quickly taken into custody.

Upon making contact with the Juvenile, in plain view, Deputies observed several items that had been reported stolen from the businesses. Consent was sought & obtained from the owner of the residence.  Several additional items were found in the interior & exterior of the home. Items such as:

  • Several 18 packs of beer
  • several packs of cigarettes
  • several bags of chips
  • 5 bicycles
  • several canisters of spray paint 
  • motor oil  

TOTAL AMOUNT: $3,454.89

While in custody, Deputies received information the Juvenile may have been involved in another burglary which took place over night at the Auto Zone located at 6900 Doniphan Canutillo, TX. With the items recovered, CID Detectives were able to positively link the Juvenile to that break-in as well. 

CID DETECTIVES arrested & charged the 15 year-old male with multiple counts of BURGLARY OF A BUILDING. The Juvenile Offender was processed and turned over to the Juvenile Probation Department.

The identity of the 15 year-old Offender will not be released because of this age.
