REMINDER: BASIC DETENTION OFFICER 09-1 GRADUATION CEREMONY - MAY 1, 2009
REGION VIII TRAINING ACADEMY
FRIDAY, MAY 1. 2009- The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Region VIII Training Academy (BDO 09-1) will be hosting a Basic County Corrections Graduation Ceremony TODAY Friday, May 1, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Ysleta Independent School District (YISD) Cultural Arts Center “Theater” 9600 Sims Dr. El Paso, Texas 79912.
This will be the 1st Detention Officer graduating class under the Administration of Sheriff Richard Wiles.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Basic Correction Officers Academy course consists of over 280 hours, it includes academics, skills testing (riot baton/formation training, defensive tactics), and physical fitness.
The class name is "DESERT RATTLERS"
Class motto is "Guardians by Day, Guardians by Night - You will never forget our bite!"
On Tuesday 04-14-09, the Sheriff's Office Basic Detention Officer Class 09-1 took their TCLEOSE State Exam. All 16 cadets of Class 09-1 passed on the first attempt.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office in March of 2001 was the first Sheriff’s Office in the State of Texas to be Internationally Accredited from CALEA and is now the recipient of the First CALEA Tri-Arc award in Texas (4th in the Nation) to have accreditations in: Law Enforcement, Communications, Training Academy.
