VINTON, TX– Over the weekend, late Friday night 05-08-09, Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence in Vinton, TX in reference to information of an AGGRAVATED ASSAULT that had just occurred. Deputies arrived and met with the 18 year-old Victim who told authorities he was driving his vehicle southbound on A.P. Ramirez when he noticed a vehicle directly in front of him traveling northbound in the same lane of travel. The Victim pulled his vehicle aside top avoid an accident when the other vehicle drove up along side his at about the 8100 block of A.P. Ramirez. At that instance, the driver pointed a double barrel shotgun at the Victim and then sped off.
Further investigation by on scene Deputies determined the Suspect lived in the area & they were able to get a positive identification on the suspect. At about 11:20 PM, a search for the Suspect was conducted at his residence in the 200 block of Jesse Trigg Vinton, TX. Deputies found the Suspect in the residence and took him into custody without incident.
The Suspect was identified as JOSE LUIS SALGADO (19) of the 200 block of Jesse Trigg Vinton, TX. SALGADO was booked at the El Paso County Detention Facility.

KAGGRAVATED ASSAULT W/ DEADLY WEAPON - $1,000 BOND
