AUSTIN, TX: EPCSO MOTORS DIVISION PARTCIPATE IN TEXAS PEACE OFFICER MEMORIAL MAY 3-4, 2009

motors AUSTIN,TX-During the week of May 3-4, 2009 members of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Special Traffic Investigation Division participated in the 12th  Biennial Texas Peace Officers’ Memorial held in Austin, Texas.

On Sunday, May 3rd, a candle light service was held on the grounds of the State Capitol in front of the Texas Peace Officers Memorial. There have been 36 officers from the State of Texas who have died in the line of duty dating back from 2006 thru 2008. A memorial service in remembrance of them held the following day, May 4th in front of the State Capitol.

The Memorial commenced with a parade composed of honor guards, motor units, and bike patrol units from all areas of Texas. The parade began at the Congress Avenue Bridge and lead straight into the front gates and into the State Capitol. At the conclusion of the parade, a “ROLLFallen BadgeCALL” of the fallen officers was held by State Representatives. This was a very moving event as officers in attendance remembered & came together to honor the officers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in carrying out their duties as Law Enforcement Officers.

CALEA-716188 The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office in March of 2001 was the first Sheriff’s Office in the State of Texas to be Internationally Accredited from CALEA and is now the recipient of the First CALEA Tri-Arc award in Texas (4th in the Nation) to have accreditations in: Law Enforcement, Communications, Training Academy.
