DETENTION OFFICER / CIVILIAN OF THE QUARTER – MAY 2009

JAIL ANNEX- On May 19th, 2009 at 8:00 AM, the El Paso County Jail Annex recognized the Officer & Civilian of the Quarter. Command Staff in attendance included Chief Deputy Silva Aguilar, Acting Commander Michaela Hebeker, Lt. Arthur H. Loyda, and  Lt. Harold Rowen. To be eligible for consideration as either Officer or Civilian of the quarter the employee must fit the following criteria;  

For Officer of the Quarter: A month prior to the end of each quarter (based on Calendar year – 3 month intervals). Each Lieutenant from the three (3) shifts, Administrative and Operations section will submit a memo to the Commander detailing which officer should be considered for the nomination of Officer of the Quarter. The Commander will distribute copies to each Lieutenant for review. After reviewing the memos on each nominee, the Lieutenants will cast one vote on their recommendation; in case of a tie, the Commander will have the deciding vote.

For Civilian of the Quarter: The process is the same; however, only Administrative and Operations sections will submit their recommendations to the Commander. The Commander will distribute copies only to Administrative and Operations Lieutenant for review. After reviewing the memos on each nominee, the Lieutenants will cast one vote on their recommendation; in case of a tie, the Commander will have the deciding vote.

DETENTION OFFICER  / CIVILIAN OF THE QUARTER:

P1120454 Officer Samuel is being commended for his outstanding achievements and accomplishments during his tenure with the Jail Annex Bureau.  He is a member of the Special Reaction Team, a State Certified Instructor; who has been requested to teach at the Region VIII Training Academy numerous times.  Included is receiving recognition from an outside agency for a jail tour he conducted.  He recently volunteered to work on other shifts to re-certify those shifts in AED/CPR. 

P1120452 Ms. Greer is being commended for her professionalism and positive demeanor which have proven to be a major asset when conducting business with the officers, supervisors, civilians, and court appointed employees.  She is not apprehensive to make decision when needed.  She is motivated when accomplishing her assigned duties.  She is an example of an employee who takes great pride in their work.  She always shows a positive attitude.
