El Paso, Texas- On Tuesday 07-14-09 9:00 PM Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a grey Mitsubishi Lancer at the intersection of Lee Trevino and Montana for a traffic violation. As the Deputy exited his patrol unit, the driver sped off at a high rate of speed. At that point a pursuit ensued eastbound on Montana at speeds of 60 mph. The Deputy coordinated thru Dispatch Operators with responding Deputies who were awaiting at the intersection of Joe Battle & Montana. As the vehicle approached the intersection, Deputies deployed “Stop Spikes” successfully deflating the Lancers tires disabling the vehicle. The vehicle came to a stop just passed the intersection (east). The female driver of the vehicle (sole occupant) refused to exit her car and had to be extracted by Sheriff’s Deputies. Upon making contact with the female driver, Deputies immediately smelled a strong strong odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage coming from her breath and person. The driver continued to be belligerent & combative with authorities during the time she was in custody of Sheriff Deputies.
Deputies arrested & charged the driver for EVADING ARREST / DETENTION w/ VEHICLE & DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED. She was identified as ZONNIA RODRIGUEZ-LOBERA (39) of the 100 block of E. Castellano El Paso, TX .

DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED- $800 BOND
EVADING ARREST / DETENTION W/ VEHICLE- $5,000 BOND
