SHERIFF’S OFFICE TO RECEIVE FUNDING FOR TECHNOLOGY UPGRADES
El Paso, Texas – On Wednesday August 19th, 2009 - U.S. Congressman Ciro D. Rodriguez (TX-23) joined El Paso County Sheriff Richard Wiles at a press conference announcing the funding for for technology upgrades, mobile data systems and visual intelligence tools in the 23rd Congressional District which include El Paso County law enforcement initiatives. The press conference was held at the Sheriff’s Office Jail Annex located at 12501 Montana El Paso, TX.

Rodriguez represents the 23rd Congressional District, which includes all or part of 20 Texas counties from San Antonio to El Paso. The district also includes 785 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border and 7 border crossings and ports of entry.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office will receive $250,000 to upgrade equipment and technology infrastructure to combat increased crime on the U.S.-Mexico border. The upgrades include forensic system equipment, fingerprint workstations and personal protection gear for officers.
