shirts On Wednesday, 09-02-09, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Strike Team along with assistance of El Paso Animal Control conducted a Joint Operation in the Westway area in an effort to reduce the loose dogs in the doggyneighborhood. The results of the operation were deemed successful as 32 dogs were impounded ( Stray / Relinquished Dogs), 33 citations were issued for: 10 unregistered dogs / 10 no vaccinations / & 13 were cited for Animal not Confined. Deputies and Animal Control Officers also informed several area residents on the consequences of allowing their canines to be left unsecured.

HealthDepartment Early Thursday morning, 09-03-2009, Strike team Deputies will again be out in the Westway area, this time with Health Inspectors to check on an ongoing problem with street food vendors. Apparently several individuals are selling food out of cars to truck drivers on weekends , setting tables to eat without any food regulations. Deputies & Health inspectors will be focusing & enforcing this issue.

The Strike Team will continue to plan future operations in the Westway area to aid in  reducing several ongoing safety & health issues along with criminal activity. The Sheriff’s Office is encouraging the Westway community to report any criminal activity to Sheriff’s Office dispatch at (915) 546-2280.
