EL PASO COUNTY, TX- Late Monday night 10-05-2009 at approximately 10:00 PM, a woman was on the phone at her residence (Montana Vista area) when she was suddenly startled to find her ex-husband / suspect (who did not reside there) already inside the residence. The ex-husband grabbed the woman / victim by her arms and pushed her into her bedroom. The ex-husband began assaulting the victim with his closed fists striking her multiple times to her head and body & proceeded to violently choke the victim. During the assault the victim lost consciousness & when she came to, she noticed she was unclothed & was being raped by her ex-husband. The victim told the ex-husband to stop but he refused. The ex-husband then told the victim; “If you call the police, I will kill you". The entire ordeal went onto the early morning hours 10/06.
After several hours being held against her will, the victim managed to escape & called 911. The ex-husband left the residence prior to the Deputies arrival. Deputies searched the area but could not locate the ex-husband. The Victim told Deputies she believed the ex-husband would kill her if given the chance. The ex-husband was identified as VICTOR RODRIGUEZ (50) who was known to carry several handguns & rifles with him.
A spot broadcast was distributed to area law enforcement for the apprehension of RODRIGUEZ who was said to have fled in a red truck tractor / trailer combination.
Late Tuesday afternoon 10-06-09, after several hours of looking for RODRIGUEZ, Deputies got a break as Detectives received information he was driving his truck tractor westbound on I-10 approaching the Westway area. At about 5:38 PM, Deputies spotted the tuck & conducted a felony traffic stop on RODRIGUEZ’ 18-wheeler on Interstate 10 / mile marker 4. RODRIGUEZ was driving the rig & taken into custody without incident. RODRIGUEZ was arrested & charged with AGGRAVATED SEXUAL ASSAULT & BURGLARY OF HABITATION. He remains at the El Paso County Detention Facility under a $100,000 BOND.
Due to the seriousness of this crime & the delicacy of this investigation, the name of the Victim or location of occurrence will not be released at this time.

AGGRAVATED SEXUAL ASSAULT - $50,000 BOND
BURGLARY OF HABITATION (with intent to commit a felony)- $50,000 BOND
