TORNILLO, TX- Early Sunday afternoon 10-25-09 at 3:20 PM, Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Alameda Ave (TX 20) and South 3rd St, Tornillo TX in reference to a motor vehicle accident with injuries involving a motorcycle. Deputies arrived and observed a motorcycle & a pick-up truck with heavy damage. The motorcycle was occupied by a male driver & female passenger who were on scene complaining of injuries. The driver and 4 passengers of the pickup were not injured. Special Traffic Investigators (STI) were summoned to the scene.
Preliminary investigation by STI’s determined that a 2008 maroon in color Harley Davidson driven by a 33 year-old male with a 33 year-old female passenger was traveling westbound at the 19000 block of Alameda. A gold 2004 Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by a 38 year-old woman was traveling northbound at the 200 block of Third Street approaching the intersection of Alameda and Third Street. The female driver of the dodge Ram disregarded the stop sign at this intersection, prior to entering Alameda from Third, and struck the motorcycle in the intersection.
The driver of the motorcycle was identified as JAVIER RIOS (33) who sustained serious bodily injuries & the passenger was identified as ADRIANA RODARTE (33) who sustained non- life threatening injuries. Both were transported to University Medical Center.
The driver of the pick-up was identified as ALLISON GARCIA (38) of east El Paso, TX.
SPEED & ALCOHOL DO NOT APPEAR FACTORS IN THIS ACCIDENT.
STI’s ARE CONTINUING WITH THE INVESTIGATION / CHARGES ARE PENDING AT THIS TIME.
