EL PASO COUNTY, TX- The El Paso County Sheriff's Office conducted the 2nd wave of Operation Flood last week. The operation was spearheaded by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Strike Team, but was in conjunction with Deputies from the following Bureaus of the Office, Criminal Investigations, Patrol, Support Services and Special Operations. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office also partnered with the Office of the Constable (Precinct 4) for this operation.

The operation was a surge effort in which an area of El Paso County was selected and saturated with a Police presence to deter and suppress criminal activity. The San Elizario & Clint communities were selected for the 2nd wave of enforcement. The operation brought increased patrols by marked units to both residential and commercial areas. Traffic and radar enforcement were also keys components of the operation. Undercover Deputies conducted surveillance in areas known for criminal activity.
As a direct result of the operation:
286 calls were handled by Operation Flood Units
167 traffic citations were issued
19 warnings were issued for non hazardous traffic violations
13 people were arrested for various offenses.
In all, each day the operation was conducted there were a minimum of 20 additional units working within the affected area.
Dates and times of the operation will not be released as several investigations commenced during the operation are still ongoing. The operation will have follow up waves of enforcement throughout El Paso County. Dates of future operations will also not be revealed for operational reasons.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office in March of 2001 was the first Sheriff’s Office in the State of Texas to be Internationally Accredited from CALEA and is now the recipient of the First CALEA Tri-Arc award in Texas (4th in the Nation) to have accreditations in: Law Enforcement, Communications, Training Academy.
