In the early morning hours on Saturday, July 14, 2012, a little after 3:00 AM, two units of the El Paso Fire Department were dispatched to Sunset View Park at 6072 Palmdale St. in west El Paso about an unknown type fire. Upon arrival they found the park’s playground fully engulfed in flames. The fire was immediately put out, but the playground equipment was destroyed. The damage has been estimated at $10,000.

It was not determined what type of accelerant was used to start the fire, but a witness reported seeing four teenagers running from the park to a house in the neighborhood. Investigators are asking for information from anyone in the area who might have noticed a suspicious vehicle or persons in the park on that night.
