EL PASO TEXAS-The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Section in coordination with The Texas Department of Transportation will be putting into effect a “DWI Enforcement Wave” Grant during the Holiday season in which Officers will focus on increasing DWI arrests within El Paso County Texas as part of the statewide “Drink. Drive. Go To Jail” campaign.
This “DWI ENFORCEMENT WAVE” is one of several waves conducted during holiday periods throughout the year. It will begin on December 21, 2012 and proceed through January 1, 2013. The goal is to reduce the number of fatal or serious injury collisions during times where alcohol-related crashes are most frequent.
From May 8, 2012 to November 8, 2012 the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office generated 225 DWI reports in El Paso County.
This year, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office/Special Traffic Investigators have investigated a total of (11) fatal accidents in El Paso County bringing the death toll to 19. So far out of the (11) accidents, five were alcohol related (Stats include single & multiple vehicle MVA and pedestrian MVA).
