EL PASO TEXAS-On 01-15-13 at approximately 11:45 AM Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a structure fire at the 100 block of Sleepy Ln., Clint, TX.  Upon arrival Deputies saw smoke emitting from the roof and seven victims outside of the home.  A preliminary investigation revealed a smoke detector alerted the seven victims  asleep inside the home of a possible fire.

A resident/victim told Deputies she awoke to find ashes coming out of a home’s restroom vent.  A small fire was also seen near the attic in which she attempted to extinguish but heavy smoke caused her and the other residents to immediately evacuate.

Clint, Socorro, Fabens and San Elizario Volunteer Fire Fighters were summoned and contained the fire within approximately 45 minutes.  The home was not insured and was estimated at a $150,000 loss.  A fire marshal was requested on scene.  The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.  All victims were accommodated by family members for the night with Red Cross notified from the scene.  No injuries were reported.
