EL PASO TEXAS- On September 6, 2012 the EPCSO became part of the tip411 national program where anyone with a cell phone and texting capabilities can send an anonymous tip to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office by texting the agency’s keyword (EPCSO) and tip information to 847411.
As of January of this year, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office now has tip411 Apps available for download from the iTunes/App Store or from the Android App on Google Play. The links are accessible on the El Paso County Sheriff’s website. Citizens are encouraged to utilize the application(s) to send a text concerning drug activity, a wanted person, information on a cold case or a general crime tip. Whether using the on-line form, via texting or using the Apps available, all tips are anonymous and sent to the Sheriff’s Office.
The new tip services are provided by Citizen Observer, a St. Paul-based company that works with law enforcement agencies nationwide to provide these services. It is the new paradigm for creating safe communities. When someone feels afraid to come forward, or simply feels like they don’t want to get involved, this can be a great way to pass information on without fear of retribution.
