EL PASO TEXAS-On 01-29-13, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 200 block of Horizon Blvd., Socorro, TX, (Sierra Metals) in reference to a recovered stolen vehicle.

Upon arrival Deputies met with the reporter/victim in which the vehicle was located inside the property at the said location (Sierra Metals).  The victim’s vehicle was reportedly damaged and to be missing parts.  The vehicle was reported stolen to the Sheriff’s Office on 01-28-13.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Strike Team was summoned to assist with the investigation and as a result of the investigation; the property owner and office manager of Sierra Metals were arrested for Fraudulent Transfer of Motor Vehicle. A third person was arrested in connection with the “Chop Shop” Operation; however, information will not be released at this time as the investigation continues.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone who has fallen victim to the “Chop Shop” Operation where a vehicle was for sale, test driven and then stolen shortly thereafter and/or someone arrived to their home, asked about a vehicle on the property and had the same vehicle stolen days later to please contact the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (Strike Team) with information at 915- 546-2280.
