EL PASO TEXAS- On 02-26-13 at approximately 4:35 PM Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 14700 block of Las Colonias Rd. in reference to a Motor Vehicle Accident involving a Clint ISD school bus and a truck.

A preliminary investigation investigation revealed the driver of a truck occupied with three passengers was traveling on Las Colonias Rd. when the driver failed to see a Clint ISD school bus with its flashers and activated stop-arm sign stopped on the roadway unloading students. The truck veered to the left to avoid colliding with the bus and struck the left rear corner of the school bus. No injuries were reported by any of the occupants in the bus (53 students, driver and bus monitor) to include the occupants in the truck. Clint ISD officials responded to the scene and released the students to their parents.

The driver stated he was distracted and did not see the school bus. The driver was cited for Fail to Control Speed. The students were from William D. Surratt Elementary School.
