EL PASO TEXAS- The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is reminding citizens the Order BANNING THE SALE/USE OF AERIAL FIREWORKS  remains in effect as adopted and ordered as of May 20, 2013 by El Paso County Commissioner’s Court which includes the sale and/or use of aerial fireworks, to wit: skyrockets with sticks and missiles with fins, are prohibited in all of the unincorporated areas of the County of El Paso pursuant to Texas Local Government Code 352.051 c.  A violation of this order is a Class “C” misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $500, Texas Government Code 352.051 (i).

imageAlso, in effect in the unincorporated areas of the county is the PROHIBITION OF OUTDOOR BURNING.  The burn ban is in effect as adopted and ordered as of April 29, 2013 and shall continue for a period of 90 days until repealed or expired in accordance with state law. A violation of this order are defined and punishable as described in Section 352.081(h) of the Texas Local Government Code as a Class “C” misdemeanor.

EL PASO TEXAS-  On 07-01-13 at approximately 5:35 AM Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 6800 block of Doniphan Dr. in reference to a structure fire located at “Tamales Lupita” in Canutillo, TX.  Deputies along with West Valley Volunteer Fire Fighters arrived on scene.  Four West Valley fire units and 13 Volunteer Fire Fighters arrived to contain the fire.  It appeared “Tamales Lupita” sustained damage to its interior and exterior entrance and upper right/attic area.  An El Paso Fire Marshal was summoned to the scene to determine the cause of the fire.  The electricity was temporarily shut off by the Electric Company with the Health Department and Gas Company pending to arrive and evaluate the business as a precaution.   “Jerry’s Barbershop” was not reported damaged or affected by the fire.  The estimated loss of “Tamales Lupita” is still yet to be determined. No one was injured as a result of the fire.
