EL PASO, TX-  On 07-12-13, late afternoon, Special Traffic Investigators conducting traffic enforcement in the Montana Ave., El Paso County, TX, investigated two accidents.  The first accident happened at approximately 2:15 PM at the intersection of Montana Ave. and Zaragoza where a pedalcyclist was traveling westbound on the shoulder portion of eastbound lanes of traffic when he was struck by a Ford F-350 exiting from a dirt road at the 13800 block of Montana Ave.  The 29 year old male/pedalcyclist was transported to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  The pedalcyclist was cited for traveling on the wrong way on a one way.  The truck reportedly had a green traffic light at the time of the accident.  

At approximately 2:40 PM a vehicle traveling eastbound on Montana Ave. struck a pedestrian crossing from south to north at the intersection of Tierra Este and Montana Ave.  The pedestrian, on impact, was thrown approximately 85 ft. before landing on a portion of the roadway and median.  The vehicle veered off the roadway and skidded before coming to a stop. The 18 year old male/pedestrian was transported to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is facing a citation for Pedestian/fail to yield right of way.  Speed and alcohol were not factors in this accident. The driver is not facing charges.
