What is NATIONAL NSleeping half-moonGHT OUT?

image_thumb51The introduction of National Night Out, “America’s Night Out Against Crime”, in 1984 began an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. 

The National Association of Town Watch’s (NATW) National Night Out program culminates annually, on the first Tuesday of August which is the day it is also recognized and celebrated by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

The first National Night Out, introduced by NATW’s Executive Director, Matt Peskin, in 1984, took place on Tuesday, August 7th 1984.  That first year, 2.5 million Americans took part across 400 communities in 23 states.  NNO now involves over 37 million people and 15,000 communities from all fifty states, U.S. Territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide.

paw-prints-clipart-dingoThe PAWS In Detention Program is proud to announce the “Pet of the Month”. This is Nalia she is a PAWS graduate that is in need of a forever home. Nalia is a 3-yr.-old female Pit-bull Mix. Naila was left at the shelter when her family moved away. Naila is athletic, loyal and is looking for a family that will love her. She loves playing fetch and jumping in the pool. Nalia is in need of love and affection and prefers to be the only pet in the home. She is housebroken and enjoys being around older kids.
