EL PASO, TX-The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office through a Texas Department of Transportation grant will be enhancing patrol efforts to crack down on DWI drivers this Labor Day Holiday.  Officers will be vigilant for DWI violators and violation of any other traffic offenses.  The goal is to reduce the number of fatal or serious injury collisions where accidents are most likely to occur.

The  DWI Labor Day Enforcement will begin August 17, 2013 thru September 2, 2013 throughout El Paso County, TX.

The Sheriff’s Office reminds citizens El Paso County is part of the “No Refusal” program.  Be responsible Don’t Drink and Drive.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Traffic Section has investigated a total of (7) Traffic Fatalities in El Paso County Texas this year.  Out of the (7), one fatality was alcohol related.

imageif you plan to consume alcohol this Labor Day Holiday.  According to TXDOT statistics 411 alcohol related fatalities occurred in Texas during the 2012 summer months of May through August.  In addition, during the Labor Day holiday reporting period, alcohol-related traffic fatalities more than doubled from eight in 2011 to 19 in 2013 ( http://www.txdot.gov/inside-txdot/media-room/news/statewide/035-2013.html ).
