EL PASO TEXAS- On 08-23-13 a Sheriff’s Deputy engaged in a short pursuit after a white Dodge Neon was seen traveling at a high rate of speed southbound at the 13300 block of Horizon Blvd., El Paso County, TX, and refused to stop.  The vehicle continued at a high rate of speed passing an emergency vehicle where it nearly collided with a patrol unit who was on a traffic stop at Ashford & Horizon Blvd.  The pursuit was terminated due to the vehicle’s exceeded speed. The description relayed by the Deputy resulted in the apprehension of the driver moments later during a traffic stop by a DPS trooper who spotted the Dodge Neon near Gateway West Blvd. & Eastlake.  The driver/Jose Alcala was turned over to Sheriff’s Officials and charged with Evading Arrest/Detention with a Vehicle.
