RECYCLING PLANT CATCHES FIRE IN EL PASO COUNTY

EL PASO TEXAS- This morning at approximately 8:25 AM, Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a structure fire at the 3800 block of Rene, El Paso County Texas, where a recycling plant was found engulfed in flames. Residents living nearby were temporarily evacuated with no injuries reported. All El Paso County Volunteer Fire Fighters/Departments were summoned to the scene to include Fire Fighters with the El Paso Fire Department. Local law enforcement agencies aided with traffic control and in keeping residents out of the area for their safety. The business was unoccupied at the time of the fire and the business was not insured for what appeared to be a total loss. According to the business owner, electronics, various scrap & metal materials to include several propane tanks were on the property. The collaborative effort of all Fire Departments on scene contained the fire to the property with no other property damage to nearby homes reported. The cause of the fire is not known at this time and remains under investigation by the El Paso Fire Marshal.
