EL PASO TEXAS- On 11-02-13 at approximately 12:42 PM Upper-Valley Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Tom Mays Park in reference to a lost hiker and a dog. A Deputy Sargent on duty familiar with the area through training with the Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team initiated a search and made contact with the hiker/VICTIM via cell phone who gave Deputies a description of her location which was near the satellite towers by “Elephants Peak”.  DPS air support was requested to assist with the search in the established perimeter. After a 4 hour search, the VICTIM and the dog were located with the assistance of an officer assisting local authorities.  COMSAR was also summoned to the scene. The VICTIM was evaluated by El Paso Fire Department with no life-threatening injuries reported, however, the canine did sustain lacerations to the front paws.
