Sheriff Badge black back

On 02-17-2014, shortly after 2:00pm, an El Paso County Deputy Sheriff conducted a traffic stop on a blue van at the 200 block of West Vinton Rd in Vinton Texas. As the Deputy was going to meet with the driver, the van sped off. The Deputy got back into his patrol unit and pursued the van a short distance to the parking lot of a business located at 8000 Doniphan Dr. The driver got out of the van and ran towards a canal bank. The Deputy gave chase and ordered the driver to stop. The driver ran into the canal bank where the Deputy caught up to him and tased him. The shot of the taser caused the driver to go to the ground, but he got back up and ran off a second time. The Deputy gave chase again and caught him near the 8000 block of Brass St.

The driver was identified as Antonio Sapien (24) of Canutillo Tx. A name check revealed that he had one outstanding warrant for Burglary of Habitation from the El Paso Police Department. Sapien was also charged with Evading Arrest and later booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
