On 02-22-14 Sheriff’s Office Detention Officers in the Pets Advancing Wellness and Success (PAWS) section  and the Animal Rescue League of El Paso participated in the El Paso Parks and Recreation second annual Pet-A-Fair event located at the Don Haskins Recreational Center. 

Detention Officers showed basic dog obedience training and had Sheriff’s Office Canine Cadets perform dog agility courses. 

The PAWS in Detention program has been successful in placing approximately 85% of its graduating canine cadets in Forever Homes.  Both Canine Cadets attending the event were adopted. This program is a collaboration between the Sheriff’s Office, the El Paso Humane Society, and the Animal Recue League of El Paso.
