El Paso, Texas – On Wednesday, January 28th, 2015, The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to the 16800 block of Eisenberg in the Hueco Tanks area in reference to a large brush fire. Upon arrival, deputies met with Abel Franco who stated that he was burning tires outside his residence. The fire quickly spread from Mr. Franco’s yard to the desert area behind his residence. Approximately 50 acres of desert land was burned. Montana Vista Fire Department along with the Horizon Fire Department and the Clint Fire Department responded. At approximately 6:00 pm the fire was under control and most of it had been extinguished. No injuries were reported and no private property was damaged. Abel Franco was issued a Class C Citation for Illegal Burning. The County does have an order Burn Ban effective January 14th, 2015 and will expire on April 13th, 2015.
