El Paso, Texas – On 03-03-15 at about 1205 hrs, El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 3700 block of Desert Meadows in reference to multiple subjects bitten by a vicious animal. Upon arrival, Deputies met with a (18) year-old mother victim, who said three family dogs got loose from the fenced-in property were in the street. Sheriff’s Deputies said the 18 year old mother attempted to retrieve the animals, while holding her 11-month old baby daughter. Deputies said that a brown pit-bull attacked and bit the 11-month-old victim on the leg causing her to fall out of her mother’s arms and onto the ground. While on the ground the 11-month old victim was bitten again in the neck and head area by the pit-bull causing injuries as she was being picked up off the ground. A concerned neighbor witnessed the attack and ran over to help the mother and her baby by throwing items at the dogs. The neighbor was then attacked by the pit-bull and sustained minor injuries while helping. The pit-bull eventually ran back onto the property where El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control officers were able to detain and quarantine. The 11-month old victim was transported to University Medical Center for medical treatment of her injuries. The neighbor refused medical treatment. Deputies conducted a follow-up and reported the 11-month old victim required 10 stitches on her head; there is no loss of limb or toe. The Baby girl is fine and alert.
