El Paso, Texas – On 4/5/15 at approximately 1320 hrs, Deputies were dispatched to the 18900 block of Wencho Dr, in Tornillo, TX in reference to an animal bite. When Deputies arrived they spoke to the Victim’s grandfather. The grandfather told Deputies that his 11 year old granddaughter was outside the residence playing when he heard her screaming and crying. The grandfather said he rushed outside to find his granddaughter being attacked by a black German Sheppard belonging to his back yard neighbor. The grandfather said he immediately pulled the dog off his granddaughter.

Deputies also made contact with the dog’s owner who told them that both properties are not fenced in. Therefore, he keeps his dog on a leash. The dog’s owner did not realize his dog had become loose and entered the neighbor’s property and attacked the child. The dog’s owner was cited on scene.

The child was transported to University Medical Center where she received several stitches for her lacerations. El Paso County Sheriff’s Animal Control Services was advised and will conduct a follow-up on the dog’s registration and will conduct the proper procedure for such an incident.
