El Paso, TX – The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office held a Special Response Team (SRT) School from June 22nd – 26th, 2015.

This SRT school saw a 100 percent passing rate for its 19 trainees following the week long intensive training.

Trainees focused on tactics and techniques in inmate control, force training, riot control, and other emergency situations . The 19 trainees also became Taser and PepperBall certified.

"The most important thing about the school is that they become certified in techniques and tactics, and the most important thing is the safety of the inmate they need to extract.” - Officer Luis Trevino.

“(We learn) to control our movements and not to take things personally and to be able to manage the situation better. Not to just go in there and let the adrenaline kick in." – Detention Officer Juriana Galeano.

This SRT school trained 15 Sheriff’s Office Detention Officers, and 4 detention officers from Curitiba Brazil.
