El Paso – The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office summer TAPS academy will visit the Ft. Bliss Family MWR Outdoor Recreation Tango Tower on Thursday, July 2nd, 2015.

The TAPS students will be participating in a challenge course at the Ft. Bliss Family MWR Outdoor Recreation Tango Tower.  The Tango Tower is a 50 foot high, six sided structure with over 20 different high elements.

This program is the summer element of the Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer Program, within the Clint Independent School District.  The students selected for this program are referrals from the County Juvenile Probation Department, the County Justices of the Peace or the Clint ISD Alternative Education Program.

Each of the 25 students has had to overcome adversity, personal challenges and legal issues.  Through the Summer TAPS Academy the students are able to interact with Sheriff’s Deputies, reducing social distance with law enforcement, and recover academic credits, with the assistance of Clint Independent School District.

The TAP’s summer activity is open to our media partners if you’d like to attend Thursday’s activity please contact Public Information Officer; Leslie Antunez at lantunez@epcounty.com .
