El Paso – Sheriff Richard Wiles and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office invite you to the TAPS academy graduation ceremony on Wednesday, August 12th, 2015.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office participated in a program that help troubled youth this summer. School Resource Officers assigned to Clint ISD were part of the Teen And Police Service (T.A.P.S.) Academy. The academy ran for 9 weeks and was specifically designed for at-risk youth. Students partnered with mentor officers to discuss issues such as: bullying, anger management, avoidance of gang life, drug usage, and conflict management and many other youth and law enforcement focused topics. Through these interactive sessions, students gained skills to make better and more positive decisions in their lives.

One of the primary goals of this program was to strengthen communities by encouraging at-risk youth and law enforcement to work together. TAPS creates an environment where law enforcement and youth learn from each other, build relationships, and discuss better ways to manage adverse situations.

The TAPS graduation ceremony will be held on Wednesday, August 12th, 2015 at the Clint ISD Administration Building located at 14521 Horizon Blvd. The ceremony will begin at 6:00pm.
