El Paso, TX - The El Paso County Sheriff's Office announces the final performance measures on our TX DOT Comprehensive Grant, your tax dollars at work enforcing traffic violations in recognized areas / problematic elements.  These are the numbers of violations that resulted in citations / arrests from October 2014 to September 2015:

SPEED CITATIONS – 552

DWI ARRESTS - 39

DUI MINOR ARREST / CITATION - 1

SAFETY BELT CITATIONS (ADULTS) - 476

SAFETY BELT/CAR SEAT CITATIONS (CHILDREN) – 115

ITC CITATIONS - 288

OTHER CITATIONS - 342

In total, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office was afforded the opportunity to work 1,060 additional Traffic Enforcement hours due to this TxDOT overtime grant.  These funds allowed us to remove 39 Drunk Drivers from our County roads, ensured the safe travel for 115 children who were not properly secured in their vehicles, and slowed down almost 552 speeders.
