El Paso, TX - On January 21, 2016, at about 7:44 pm, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single motor vehicle crash at the 1800 block of South Ascencion Dr. in El Paso County Texas.

Upon arrival, Sheriff’s Deputies discovered that a 2003 Ford Explorer had been traveling north on South Ascencion Dr. when the driver failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The Explorer veered off the roadway and rolled over coming to rest inside a residential property.

The driver of the Explorer, Martin Macias 50 years of age, was ejected from the Explorer. The Explorer came to rest on top of Macias as a result of rolling over. Macias was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. An 8-year-old passenger in the Explorer did not sustain any injuries.

Special Traffic Investigators were summoned to the scene and assumed the lead in the investigation.

No further information will be released at this time as this is an ongoing investigation.
