El Paso, TX – The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Pets Advancing Wellness and Success (PAWS) in Detention section will attend the 8TH Annual El Paso Run Walk for Autism on Saturday, April 30th, 2016.

Detention Officers along with Canine Cadets “Betty” and “Lucky,” will showcase the function and purpose of the PAWS vocational program to the public.

The program was created to assist inmates in attaining vocational training and to provide homeless pets an opportunity to be adopted.

Canine Cadet Lucky - is a 6-month-old male German Sheppard mix rescued from City of El Paso's El Animal Control.  Lucky is deaf and missing one ear apparently bitten off by a dog attack, still loves other dogs and children.

Canine Cadet Betty – is a 2-year-old boxer female, she was found as a stray. Betty is sweet and loving towards all, as long as you’re not a cat.

Please join the PAWS in detention section on Saturday, April 30th, 2016, from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the 8TH Annual El Paso Run Walk for Autism at the El Paso Community College – Transmountain Campus. The canine cadets that are part of the PAWS vocational program can be adopted through the Animal Rescue League of El Paso.
