El Paso, TX – The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Region VIII Academy will be hosting its SRT (Special Response Team) School, September 26th – 30th, 2016.

The school will provide training to Sheriff’s Office Detention Officers, ICE Detention Camp – CERT Teams, El Paso County Constables and 19 detention officers from the Brazil State of Santa Catarina.

The different agencies participating in this course have made the completion of this training a requirement for their officers. The Sheriff’s Office SRT course and instructors are highly recognized and the demand for the course is continuously growing.

The 30 plus officers will train on the following:  One Man Cell Extractions, Two-Man Tactics extractions, Riot/Civil Disturbance, and Hostage and Rescue in a Correctional Setting. The course will also feature a two-day Ju Jitsu Tactics Training by Brazilian Olympian Judo/MMA professional fighters. Both Sheriff’s Office Jail Facilities, Region VIII Academy Range and El Paso Coliseum will be used as training locations.

UTEP students will assist with the translation with Brazilian team members.
